Power is a renewable source of energy. However, it is important to understand where India stands in the power scenario. The total installed power capacity in India, as on 30th June’16, was 303, 118 MW. Back in 2010, there was a peak power shortage. However, India overcame the hurdle and here’s where transformers come into the frame.

The alternating current system of transmission and distribution has come into universal use. This is largely because a transformer makes it possible to connect different parts of a system at their most suitable voltages. In a transformer, the inductive action is widely used whereby electromagnetic energy is transferred from primary to secondary conductive circuit. With the help of strong R&D facilities in organizations and infrastructures available at national level, the transformer industries are continuously upgrading the product performances. India is home to a strong base of over 500 transformer industries. However, they function within an overall manufacturing capacity of 800000 MVA per annum. The contribution towards domestic utilities is over 500000 MVA, while the rest are exporting to more than 50 countries.

Today our industries are fully geared-up with proven technology. In fact, they have enough capacity to manufacture a wide range of power and distribution transformers. These include other special transformers in the field of welding, instrument, traction, mining, furnace etc. About 95% of the transformers installed in the Indian Power Network are of indigenous origin. Energy efficient transformers with low loss and low-noise level are inculcated with international-standard entities to make sure that the requirements are met, fair and square.
